Each of these folks had a successful business but they did not understand what the true picture should be concerning their business in relation to their industry. What does this mean? They did not know what a P&L should look like for the average company that does business in their industry. And they did not know what their balance sheet should like either. I was truly amazed. A business only does what it is told to do. What does that mean? Does it behave better than your children? It will if you give it absolutely perfect direction.
